The Process

RedEye ARC has made ordering and building architectural models an easy and streamlined process. Unlike traditional modeling, 3D printed models provide a “what you see is what you get” philosophy. The ability to “proof” your model prior to build will help ensure accuracy and deadline delivery.

Below you can review the entire process of ordering a RedEye ARC model.

1. Quote

Required Information (Email to Quote@redeyearc.com)

• Cad Data (2D or 3D)
• Model Scale
• Model Overview (Interior or Exterior Only, Full Detail, Tope etc.)
• Desired Material
• Deadline

3D CAD
RedEye ARC accepts files in any format and will work with you to ensure the files you submit are in good, buildable form. If and when errors in the file do occur, we will notify you of your options to either have us fix the file using Materialise Magic’s Software or talk you through fixing it yourself.

The final file type needed for 3D printing is known as an STL file (stereo lithography). Most 3D CAD software can simply produce STL files by exporting to STL. Visit our Tips and Tools section to learn more.

2D CAD
RedEye ARC also accepts 2D CAD data. Send in your 2D CAD plans and we will convert your drawings into perfectly buildable, highly detailed STL file.

RedEye ARC’s staff of CAD converters will include every interior and exterior detail in the conversion process. Once the file is deemed perfect, you will receive a 3D file to proof and to keep for future email correspondence.

1. Elevations (N,S,E,W)
2. Floor Plan
3. Roof Plan
4. Details Sheets

2. Proof
A RedEye ARC representative will provide you with a final sign-off proof of the project in the form of a 3D PDF and talk you through the proofing process. You can also use the 3D PDF as a great communication tool for your client. If any changes apply to the model, simply make a note and we will deliver another proof.

3. Build
Once the file is approved it is time to “print.” The CAD Data gets processed into our proprietary software called Insight ^TM. The software generates a machine tool path and support structures to ensure proper build of the model regardless of its geometry.

We then build the file with your desired build technology and your model will come to life one layer at a time.

4. Finishing
Upon finishing the build, we send the model to our finishing department where it gets quality checked, sanded and textured or painted, if you choose that option.

We can paint the model and match it to any color code you request. Simply submit the name of the paint manufacturer and paint code. We will use the exact paint you will use on your final project to ensure accuracy.

5. Ship
The model gets another quality check by your project coordinator and it is on its way to you. We will contact you with the routing number to help you track your package. Once the model arrives, the RedEye ARC’s architectural development manager will call you to make sure the model meets your expectations.
